do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes No
My computer is a dell dimension desktop with OS xp sp3, and it is not connected to the internet. The printer has printed from other programs on my comput such as ms word, a geneaology program, notepad, a Corel photo manipulation program, etc. Just can't get the hp assistant or HP Photo Creations to initialize which says unable to complete initialization. Please try reinstalling. (Error err:etag) I have disconnected usb cable from printer and computer and removed printer program including going to run and deleting temp internet files, restarting computer, and reinstalling drivers that I downloaded from your website. Same results. Talked to HP in a chat about hp printer assistant and he told me was a ms problem and to contact ms which I knew would do no good since there is no longer support for xp os

Ah. HP Photo Creations requires an active Internet connection. It doesn't run offline.
(The program has a library of graphics and other layout features that it downloads from the Internet as needed. It uses an Internet connection during installation as well.)
I apologize for misreading your original post. I thought you meant the PC wasn't currently connected to the Internet. Perhaps that lack of a constant connection is also what's blocking the printer assistant.

Try using just the basic driver, link if required.

Hi iBlue.
Script errors in HP Photo Creations are usually caused by a conflict with Internet Explorer. (Even if you don't normally use that web browser, it provides background services thatother programs use.)
We typically recommend resetting Internet Explorer to fix the error. Here's how to do it on newer versions of Windows. (You wrote that you were running Windows XP; HP Photo Creations officially supports only Windows 7 and newer.)
- Open Internet Explorer and select the Tools (gear icon) menu.
- Click on Internet Options.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Click the Reset button (bottom of window).
- Click the OK button to close Internet Options.
- Close Internet Explorer and then reopen Internet Explorer.
- Select the Tools menu.
- Click on Internet Options.
- On the General tab under Browsing history, click on Settings.
- On the Temporary Internet Files tab, click on View Files.
- Delete all contents in this folder, then close the window.
- Close all Internet Explorer windows by clicking OK.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thank you,

The drivers I downloaded from HP was EN7800_Full_WebPak_44.3.2218 full version: 1.4.1926.0 date created: 6/2/2018 size: 197mb. I also downloaded EN7800_R1812B file version: 1.0.0.0 date created 6/2/2018 size: 59.6 mb which finds printer but printer info is greyed and won't let me check. HP Photo Creations did not give script error just unable to complete installation. Please try reinstalling (error err:etag). The script error was for HP Printer Assistant.
Since my OS is xp sp3, my internet explorer is different. Under tools I went to internet options to advanced tab to restore defaults at bottom to ok. Closed explorer aand reopened to tools and internet options to temporary internet files to delete files. I also clicked on clear history. Neither the Printer Assistant or HP Photo Creations would initialize.

Hi iBlue.
Thank you for trying the reset. The other thing to try is uninstalling and reinstalling HP Photo Creations. In the majority of cases, that should fix the startup error. Here's how:
1. Check Your Internet Connection
- If you're accessing the Internet from a business or office network, please be sure that the network or firewall allows access to the HP Photo Creations software.
- Check your computer's clock to be sure the date and time are set correctly. (The wrong time can prevent Internet-connected software from running.)
2. Uninstall and Reinstall HP Photo Creations
Step 1: Uninstall HP Photo Creations
- Click on Start
- Click on Control Panel
- Click on Add or remove programs
- From the program list, select and remove HP Photo Creations
Step 2: Download and reinstall HP Photo Creations
- Go to www.hp.com/go/hppc.
- Click the Download button. Depending on your browser, you can choose to run or save the program. Choose Run if available. (If you chose Save instead, double-click the downloaded file.)
- Follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall HP Photo Creations.
Step 3: Open HP Photo Creations
- Open HP Photo Creations by double-clicking the desktop shortcut, and confirm that it is working.

Sometimes an overzealous antivirus program can prevent programs from launching as well. Our support team can help you track that down if reinstalling doesn't work.

I am accepting this as solution that I will not get the printer assistant or photo creations to initialize with microsoft os xp. I was thinking that I needed the assistant to scan, but I have hp scan that works just fine.
