HP Officejet 6700 Premium, Windows Vista, cable connection
I installed a new cyan cartridge as required. When I tried to print the printer insisted there was a paper jam. I check everywhere and there was not one. Then it complained a door was open - it wasn't. Finally it acted like it was printing but it gave me completely clean, blank pages. When I copied colorful ads everything printed in blue. I went through all the steps I could find, and eventually was able to get shades of blue, blue- green and yellow on the test pages it printed. Diagnostics says all my cartridges are full or nearly full, including the new cyan one. There is absolutely no visible magenta (red or pink) although that is the cartridge that is closest to being full, and the only black is very light smudges.
I have turned the printer off and on, unplugged all connections, reinserted all the cartridges, cleaned the printheads, and gone through all the other steps recommended. The diagnostics program has a list of items it checked and everyone one comes up OK. I have wasted an entire day on this and, unless I can find a quick, easy, cheap fix, I have decided it isn't worth another day.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the printer only prints cyan after the cartridge was replaced,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Have you ensured genuine HP Ink cartridges are being used?
Did you reseat the cartridge to ensure its connected without any issues?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
Also, I wish there was a simple and easy/cheap fix to resolve the issue, instead we have a series of steps that could fix the issue
Solution one: Use genuine HP cartridges
HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to hp.com/go/anticounterfeit.
Solution two: Allow automatic servicing to complete
Many print quality problems with black ink, such as poor black text or issues that occur with a newly installed black cartridge, clear up with the printer's automatic servicing routine. There is nothing you need to do. The print quality should start improving in a few hours.
Solution three: Check the paper
Follow these guidelines to make sure that the paper you are using is appropriate for the print job. If it is not, reload the printer with an appropriate paper type.
Solution four: Check the print settings
Check the print settings to make sure that they are appropriate for your print job.

Thank you for your answer and suggestions. I should have elaborated a little - this printer is about 6 years old, so I wasn't too upset about it possibly of having to replace it. I have always used genuine HP cartridges, and as far as the paper goes . . . the generic stuff I buy at Office Max/Depot and have been using for many years. Before I turned to the board for help I went to HP Print & Scan Doctor, then downloaded the diagnostic tool needed for Windows Vista. I went through all the steps . It told me all my cartridges were nearly full so I really didn't think that was an issue since the printer had worked perfectly before installing the new cartridge.
After I got your reply I decided to try again and did so. I discovered something I apparently missed the first time and that was a 2nd and 3rd attempt to clean the printheads. When I purchased the cyan cartridge I bought the entire set of 3 my printer uses (cyan, magenta, and yellow) so, even though the diagnostics said the ones in the printer were nearly full, I replaced them all. Then I ran the printhead clean program. Over and over, and after each time I printed a test document and each one was a little better than the previous one. After about six times I finally got a complete, clear printout. I found a colorful graphic that used all the colors and that was the final test - it came out perfect. I couldn't believe it but there it was.
So my printer emergency is solved for now. Many thanks to you for saving my printer.
