How can I manage WHEN HP sends me instant ink? I do NOT want packages that I do not expect to arrive at my front door when I am gone on vacation or business trips. Such packages are an open invitation to burglars to break in and take all my HP equipment (and everything else) I think I have to cancel my instant ink plan if I cannot control shipments

Hi @ako-ski,
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand, you wish to manage the automatic shipping of Instant Ink cartridges to your house.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you.
When you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink, you do not need to purchase replacement ink cartridges from retail stores. Review the following:
-
HP monitors the ink levels when your printer is connected to the Internet and Web Services is turned on.
-
Replacement ink cartridges are automatically shipped when your ink cartridges have enough ink to print twice the number of pages included in your monthly plan. You do not receive replacement ink cartridges every month, but they should arrive before you run out of ink.
When HP sends an ink shipment, you receive a notification email, and the Current Status for the cartridge on your HP Instant Ink account page is updated. Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account page to check the status of a shipment, see where your ink cartridges are during shipment, and the date of delivery.
You would not be able to disable automatic shipment of cartridges. Therefore, I would suggest you once you get an email notification of ink cartridges being shipped, please track the shipment from your HP Instant Ink Account and inform the shipping carrier to deliver the product when you're available or you could schedule to pick up the cartridges from the carrier by walking into the store.
Hope this helps!
Have a great day 🙂

Thanks for the quick response Flower_Bud, However it does not solve my issue.
I have already read all that you said in the instant ink info. It is not sufficient for me.
I need HP to send me a pre-shipment notification and an opportunity for me to change the shipment date. If I dont respond to change the date, HP should NOT ship until I do respond. Can you consider that as an enhancment to the instant ink system?
I will not take advantage of Instant ink until you provide that capability.
why? I am semi retired and enjoy travelling... see below
A. Fedex is not able to delay shipments, to my understanding
B. Fedex could divert a shipment to a local Fedex facility upon request IF it has not already been put on the truck for local delivery, BUT the local facility will only hold shipments for 5 days, after which they will return to vendor.
C. every year we take multiple vacations, some almost a month long where I have very limited or no internet access for days, and would be unable to reliably check my email to see that HP has unexpectedly shipped something.
For example two years ago we went on an expeditionary cruise to Antartica for 22 days with no reliable internet access. we were able on occaision to get on the net from our icebreaker ship, but could not depend on it.
Last fall and every two years we travel to my wife's family house in the west of France for at least 2 weeks. This vacation house has no internet nor land line phone. The only network access in the town is the tourist office which is not always up and requires a 1 hour walk from the house. So I tend to check mail only every 3-4 days unless I know something is up. It is expensive to use my phone to check email over the cellular network when travelling internationally
Next spring we are going on another 2-week expedition cruise, this time to northern Norway and the Arctic. same issue with internet access on the ship.

I have insta ink installed and still have half way through. Another set came in. I don't want to get another set when I still have 1.5 set to finish. How can I put on hold the automatic delivery of ink? THanks
