Even though I am connected to the internet (solid blue light) and when I check my HP account it shows the printer online I keep getting the error message
"Reconnect the printer to the internet so that the printer can automatically order replacement cartridges"
When the message appears, I have to physically walk to the printer and press ok before it will print anything. I have cancelled my instant ink account in the hopes that would solve the problem but that did not work. I have also contacted HP support a number of times, but they were unable to resolve the problem. I am at my wits end and hope someone out there has conquered this problem and can provide advice on how to fix. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the HP Community.
The original problem was not the connection to your network (solid blue light) - the printer was not connecting to Web Services.
Web Services connects the printer to the Instant Ink Service so the service can monitor the printer and know when to send ink.
Having cancelled the Instant Ink subscription means one problem is solved - that is, Web Services no longer has to be connected to check the printer to send ink.
READ HP Instant Ink - Cancel Your HP Instant Ink Service
That said,
Without the subscription, the Instant Ink cartridges will lock and cannot be used in any printer.
If you have not done so,
- Remove all the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer.
- Ideally, send the Instant Ink cartridges back to HP (All Instant Ink Cartridges remain the property of HP)
NOTE: HP is not going to chase you down for ink cartridges...
- Purchase and install a new set of HP ink cartridges.
You might not need Web Services running anymore - you can try Restarting the service or just shut it off if unneeded.
