We are trying to use our machine to make a copy, and the error code: 20.001 continues to pop up saying the memory is low, printing job canceled.
Can someone tell me how to fix this? I have done the factory reset. I have powered it off, and disconnected from the wall power source. We have deleted the device from the computer and then reestablished it to our system again.
I am at a loss. Does this device have a memory card that needs to be replaced? I cant seem to find anything behind a door that would indicate that it is for a memory card.
This is our main printer in our office, and need it to function correctly.
TIA

Hi @ArchieStaff,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with an issue related to the memory capacity on your HP printer, especially if the error persists after performing a factory reset and disconnecting the printer. The error code you mentioned typically points to a memory overload or insufficient available memory for copying tasks, and there are a few potential causes for this.
- Clear Any Pending Jobs: Sometimes, print or copy jobs in the queue can clog up memory. Make sure there are no pending jobs in the print queue by checking through the printer's control panel or your computer's print queue.
- Reduce the Copy Quality/Resolution: If you're copying a large document or high-quality image, try reducing the resolution or adjusting the copy settings to a lower quality, which will require less memory to process.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, memory-related issues are addressed in software updates. You can check for updates by visiting the official HP support page or using the HP Smart app.
- Check for Memory Expansion: Some HP printers do allow for memory upgrades, but this typically applies to more high-end models. Most regular office printers do not use replaceable memory cards. Since you couldn’t find anything indicating a memory card slot, it's likely your printer doesn't have that option. However, you can check on support page to confirm.
- Perform a Hard Reset: Since you've already tried a factory reset, you can try a more extensive hard reset. Turn off the printer, unplug it, and leave it disconnected for a longer period (about 10-15 minutes). This can sometimes clear up internal memory issues.
- Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: This tool can help diagnose and fix various printer issues. It's available for free from HP's website and can help identify if there are any software or connection problems contributing to the error.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
