Currently, I am able to print and access my HP Deskjet 3052A (3050A). However, this is limited to all pages that use http. As soon as I select any that switched to https I get a "Internal System Error" although I accept the exception for the security certificate.
This happens with IE, FF and Chrome.
The printer runs on a fixed IP address .251, which I was able to select.
What shall I do? How can I get any useful information? The HP Network Check Tool did not show anything of concern.
Security certificate exceptions work pretty well when tested.

I tried to start with https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. The interal system error comes up immediately. However, pressing reload 2-3 times brings me to the start page then. Selecting those pages that caused issues before works then.
Summarizing my I would say:
Work around: Applying reload on your browser multiple times brings you to the solution.
Customer satisfaction: low, as this is not acceptable for the product. The help provided by customer support, which I approached in parallel, was gently said unacceptable. They were very responsive, however, they wanted me to send them a log file that contained tons of security relevant data of my system, which is not acceptable at all. This was the time were I stopped to work with them and was happy to find a work-around in this forum.

If this is still a problem, try this:
Instead of going to an HTTPS page from the HTTP page, start out in the HTTPS pages.
Example: Normally, you would go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to access your printer's web interface, and then you click the link to one of the HTTPS pages.
Try this: Go to httpS://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (capitalized only for effect). This will bring you to the homepage of the printer, but there won't be any information on it. Click the Settings Tab, and then the Security link. You will be brought to a screen to create a password for the Admin account for the SSL pages. Once you've created this password, it will all work the way it's supposed to.
The problem is that the web interface requires you to create a password in order to access the SSL pages, but HP messed up and put the page to create the account on an SSL page. So, you can't access the page to create your account, because you haven't created the account yet.
I just spent the last hour and a half chatting with tech support on this and I finally found the backdoor solution. I asked them to pass it on so, maybe someday it'll be fixed in a firmware update.
Try this and let me know if it works for you. I've seen many other people with the same problem and no solution.

As far as I can tell, this isn't solved.
I have the same problem when accessing my printer (HP Deskjet 3050A All-in-One Printer - J611a), over https.
I have checked for firmware updates, and the utility reports its up to date (my version is SMP1FN1115AR)
Refreshes don't help me, they just show a half drawn screen
I have also believe it ot not, turned the printer off and on again more than once.
This is preventing me from setting up the web scanning which requires access to the administrator settings
Btw admin, Since my printer is a slightly different model, should I be starting a new "unsoled" thread?
Regards

No, this is fine to carry on this thread. It is kind of messy, but not unique by a long shot.
Download and run this utility: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads
What does it say?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
