I am trying to find a DB or a documented list of all error codes for HP printer models in the last 5 years for a project for WGU.

I appreciate any and all help!

Thank you for your time!

Hi @undead_blue

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you want to get information on error codes, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

I understand you’re looking for a database or documented list of all error codes for HP printers in the last 5 years for your project. Unfortunately, there is no public, centralized database from HP that provides a comprehensive list of all error codes across its printer models. However, there are several resources and approaches that can help you find the information you need:

1. HP Official Support Website

  • HP Printer Error Codes & Troubleshooting Guides: HP’s official support website provides detailed troubleshooting steps for specific error codes for many of their printers. Each printer model typically has a page dedicated to error messages, possible causes, and solutions.
  • How to Use It:
    1. Visit HP Support.
    2. Search for your printer model (e.g., HP LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw).
    3. Look under Troubleshooting or User Guides for Error Codes.

While this won’t give you a comprehensive list for all models, it’s a great resource for individual error codes tied to specific printer models.

  • HP Printer Error Code List (select models only): You can also refer to specific guides or FAQs that list error codes for specific printer models. Some models have detailed error lists, such as HP LaserJet, HP OfficeJet, or HP Envy series.

2. HP User Manual and Service Guides

  • Every printer model comes with an official user manual or a service guide. In these manuals, you’ll often find a section dedicated to error codes and their corresponding solutions.
  • Where to Find: On the same HP support website, you can search for the User Manual or Service Manual for your printer model. This may contain detailed troubleshooting information, including common error codes for that model.
  • Example: Search for your printer’s model number, and under the Manuals or Documentation section, you may find error code information.

Since you are working on a project for WGU , I recommend taking a methodical approach to compiling a list of error codes:

  • Compile a List: Create a table with the printer model, error code, and a brief description of the issue.
  • Search in User Manuals: As mentioned earlier, check the user manuals and service guides for each printer model you’re focusing on. Record common errors such as Paper Jam, Low Ink, Connectivity Errors, and Cartridge Errors.
  • Group Error Codes by Printer Type: It may help to organize the error codes by the type of printer (e.g., LaserJet, OfficeJet, Envy, DeskJet).

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
