I'm trying to print 3.5"x5" envelopes using Word.  The delivery address is printing off center however it looks accurate on my print preview.  It's printing to the far left.   I've changed the Paper size in my printer properties to 3.5x5".  Please help!

I can give you some ideas to consider / try...

Commentary

It may be helpful (or even necessary) to create a custom size form for your little envelopes.  You will still need to select "Custom" in Word and enter the dimensions of the envelope - the "custom form", if it can (will) be used is not apparent in the Envelope setup but the printer software may use it (indirectly) to correctly judge the size and character of the printed output.

Specifications > Paper Handling

It is noted that only Mac OS supports Custom Paper Size forms - however, the Windows driver is fairly up-to-date and the feature may be available.

Custom Form

  1. Availability depends on printer model and software and Operating System / Version.
  2. If the feature is at least partially supported the Custom Setup will be available in Devices and Printers OR in Printer Preferences.
  3. If the feature is fully supported, the custom form can be created AND then used with the printer software.

  • Devices and Printers > Print Server Properties

OR

  • Printer Preferences > Print Dialog > Paper / Quality > Custom setting box

Example 1

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Left-Click on your Printer one time to highlight >

Left-Click Print Server Properties (along the top ribbon)

 Custom_Form_Envelope_7x5Custom_Form_Envelope_7x5

Example 2

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Right-Click on your Printer > If necessary, select printer from drop down menu / list

Printing Preferences > tab Paper/Quality > Custom

Depending on Printer Model / Software, changing the paper in the tray may require that the paper settings be adjusted on the printer control panel.

  • Open Tray > Remove existing paper, load new Paper > Check printer control panel: “Modify” > select Paper Size or “Custom” > OK
