We have two HP printers at work - a LaserJet M234sdwe and an OfficeJet Pro 9012e; yesterday, the Laserjet suddenly stopped working. Error 61 showed on printer display, with yellow exclamation mark and letter 'i' (information?) constantly flashing. I'm using the two printers connected via Wifi to a new HP Laptop only purchased 6 weeks ago. Both printers have worked fine until yesterday, using the HP Smart app for Windows. I checked our account with HP re printer ink levels and everything ok. I then followed advice online to trouble-shoot but still couldn't get printer working. Phoned HP Customer Services and after their own trouble-shooting (involving taking control of my laptop) they have decided that the issue is because the Laserprinter is too far away from our Wifi server (in another office). But surely, if that was the case, why did the printer work ok until yesterday? To compound the issue, HP Cust Services uninstalled HP Smart and now can't get it to reinstall again properly. They're saying that's something to do with Location Services which are set to On, but the printer isn't being found, even though Wifi is on and working properly. Because HP Smart has been uninstalled, I can't get the other printer to work either now (I use it daily, for scanning). After 90 minutes on the phone to HP Cust Services yesterday afternoon I had to end the call because of another commitment to go to. Nick from HP Cust Services phoned me back this afternoon to say he'd discussed it with his colleagues and they definitely think our printers are too far away from the Wifi server/router. I feel as though I'm being fobbed off. Has anyone else had this problem?

@SSB_HTL, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Fix LaserJet M234sdwe Error 61

Check Wi-Fi:

Printer Connection: Print a network configuration page (press the Information button on the printer) to make sure it's still connected to Wi-Fi.

Reboot the Printer and Router: Power off both, wait 30 seconds, and turn them back on.

Move Closer to Router: Try moving the printer closer to the router for a quick test.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:

Reset the printer's network settings (press Wireless and Cancel together for 5 seconds).

Reconnect it using the HP Smart app.

Fix HP Smart Reinstall Issue

Ensure Location Services are ON:

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location, and make sure it’s turned ON.

Reinstall HP Smart:

Uninstall HP Smart (from Control Panel > Programs).

Restart your laptop.

Reinstall from Microsoft Store: Open the Microsoft Store, search for HP Smart, and reinstall.

If Still Not Working:

Use Full Driver Package: Download it directly from the HP website for your printer model.

Troubleshoot Windows Store: Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter (Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot).

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
