Just changed Cyan cartridge to HP 8610 Officejet printer.  Printer now gives "Printer Failure" message.  As the device instructed, I turned off the printer & unplugged it (for a minimum of 30 seconds).  Plugged it in again & pressed start.  I continue to receive the same Printer Failure message & have repeated the process at least 4 times.  Can I correct this here in my office?

Hi @scotemet1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting a "Printer Failure" message can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure the new cyan cartridge is installed correctly. Sometimes, a cartridge might not be seated properly or could be defective. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it firmly. Make sure it's the correct model for your printer.
  • Inspect for Errors: Look for any visible obstructions or damage inside the printer. Make sure there are no small pieces of paper or foreign objects blocking the printhead or paper path.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a hard reset. Unplug the printer, wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in. Turn it on and see if the issue is resolved.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve hardware issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Clean the Printhead: If you have access to printhead cleaning options through the printer's menu or software, try cleaning the printhead. You might need to consult the printer's manual for detailed instructions.
  • Perform a Printer Diagnostic: Run any built-in diagnostic tools available through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app. These tools can sometimes identify and resolve issues.
