HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
iOS

Every time I try to print something from my iPhone to my hp envy 6055 printer, it starts printing but in the middle of printing a message pops up on my phone that says “HP ENVY 6000 series [BF76C3] The printer is no longer available.” Along with the options to chose “try again” or “cancel print job”. If I choose to cancel print job it will cancel what I’m trying to print, if I don’t do anything it will keep printing but will print it like 3 times. Which has made my instant ink printing payment increase dramatically by the way! I can’t contact support because my printer is like 1 month out of warranty . It’s super frustrating the lack of support hp offers. I do not own a computer either so can’t do any of that diagnostic tests and stuff…. Please help

Hi @briteliseo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to experience printing issues with your HP Envy 6055 printer from your iPhone. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Restart Printer and iPhone:

  • Turn off your HP Envy 6055 printer and wait for about 10 seconds.
  • Turn it back on and allow it to fully initialize.
  • Restart your iPhone by powering it off and back on.

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your iPhone.
  • Check the WiFi signal strength where the printer is located to ensure a stable connection.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Sometimes, firmware updates can fix connectivity issues. Check if there are any updates available for your HP Envy 6055 printer through the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.

Reset Printing System on iPhone:

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and tap on "General."
  • Scroll down again and tap on "Reset."
  • Tap on "Reset Network Settings."
  • This will reset all network settings on your iPhone, including WiFi passwords. You'll need to reconnect to your WiFi network afterward.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • If you're using the HP Smart app to print, try deleting and reinstalling it from the App Store on your iPhone. Sometimes, reinstalling the app can resolve underlying software issues.

Check for App Updates:

  • Make sure that the HP Smart app on your iPhone is up to date. Open the App Store, go to "Updates," and see if there's an update available for the HP Smart app.

Forget and Reconnect Printer:

  • On your iPhone, go to Settings > WiFi.
  • Find your printer's WiFi network in the list and tap the (i) icon next to it.
  • Tap "Forget This Network" and confirm.
  • Then reconnect to your printer's WiFi network and try printing again.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to check if there are any specific error messages or codes displayed on the printer itself when this issue occurs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all that. After doing all that and trying to print something, I get a message the first time I print something. It says “Security Warning

The printer "HP ENVY 6000 series [BF76C3]" appears to be a different printer than the previously used printer with the same name or the connection may not be trustworthy. If this is expected, tap "Continue".”

Hi @britteliseo,

Thank you for your response,

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Envy 6055 printer may be due to a few different factors, such as network connectivity, security settings, or driver issues. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.

Check Printer Connection

  1. Restart Devices:
    • Restart your printer, router, and computer to refresh the connections.
  2. Network Connection:
    • Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. You can check this through the printer's control panel or HP Smart app.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

Uninstall Old Drivers:

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Envy 6055 printer and select Remove device.

Download and Install Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy 6055 printer.
  • Install the drivers and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer again.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel or use the HP Smart app to check for and install any available firmware updates.

Security Settings Adjustment

Respond to Security Warning:

  • When the security warning appears, click on "Continue" if you trust the connection.
  • Ensure the correct printer is selected and it matches the one you intend to use.

Adjust Security Settings (if applicable):

  • If using Windows, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings.
  • Ensure that network discovery and file and printer sharing are turned on.

Verify Printer Configuration

Set Printer as Default:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the HP Envy 6055 printer and select Set as default printer.

Check Printer Properties:

  • Right-click on the printer and select Printer properties.
  • Ensure all settings are correctly configured, especially in the Ports tab.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • This tool can automatically diagnose and fix many issues with your HP printer.
    • Download it from the HP Support website and run it on your computer.

Check Network Security

  1. Router Settings:
    • Ensure that your router’s security settings are not blocking the printer. You may need to adjust firewall settings or enable certain ports.
  2. Wi-Fi Signal Strength:
    • Ensure the printer has a strong Wi-Fi signal. Consider moving it closer to the router if needed.

Reconnect Printer to Network

  1. Reconfigure Wi-Fi:
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi setup and reconnect it to your network.
    • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app to assist with the connection setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I’ve tried all these steps and still the same.  I have also now run out of my pages allowance and my ink cartridges are running low too.

Hi @britteliseo,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble with your HP ENVY 6055 printer and iPhone. It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with connectivity between your iPhone and the printer.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this:

1. Restart Everything

  • Printer: Turn it off, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • iPhone: Restart your phone.
  • Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it, waiting for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.

2. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Via HP Smart App: Although you mentioned you don't have a computer, if you have access to another smartphone or tablet, you can download the HP Smart app from the App Store and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.

3. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

  • Wi-Fi Setup: On the printer, go to the settings menu and select "Wireless Setup Wizard" or "Wi-Fi Setup." Follow the prompts to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

4. Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Delete the HP Smart app from your iPhone and reinstall it. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

5. Check for iOS Updates

  • Update iOS: Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates.

6. Re-add Printer

  • Remove and Re-add Printer: In the HP Smart app, remove the printer from your list of devices and then add it again. This can refresh the connection.

7. Check Printer Status

  • Printer Status: Ensure the printer is not in an error state (e.g., out of paper, low ink). You can usually check this via the printer’s control panel.

8. Print from Another Device

  • Alternative Device: If possible, try printing from another device (e.g., a friend’s phone or tablet) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the printer or the iPhone.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Has this issue been solved? I am now suffering exactly the same problem with a brand new HP Envy 6020 printer and am not impressed.
