Large black vertical line printing on every page. I inherited this printer from a former co-worker who never reported the issue. Can someone tell me the cause?

Posting a sample would be helpful if you can do that. Most common causes of issues are a faulty cartridge, an issue with the transfer belt, a incorrect driver and least commonly a hardware failure. If the defect is black, remove the black cartridge and examine the blue/green drum to see if there is a matching defect there. If there is, then likely the cartridge is bad. Another useful step is to print the print quality page set which should help to determine if there is a cartridge issue or the problem lies somewhere else. If the defect shows up on all PQ test pages then the problem rests elsewhere in the printer other than the cartridges. Again, a sample is useful in narrowing down the issue.

Thanks for that, one more thing. If you measure from the start of the first defect to the start of the second, does the measurement correspond to any of the following defect measurements?
