Product: LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My LaserJet Pro 200 is making an awful squeaking noise when it prints. Its getting louder and louder and it sounds like something needs to be oiled, possibly a wheel of some sort. Before I dismantle my expensive printer does anyone know how to fix the issue, ideally in a few simple steps?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

 

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:  

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Most common cause of noise is cartridges. Any new cartridge or cartridge close to empty is a suspect.
