Yes, we have the exact same problem - just started today.  Our Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw is completely useless at this time. Why hasn't HP offered a solution to this problem which was first reported on September 12, 2022 - over 3 weeks ago?

I feel that since HP has not responded since 9/24/2022 that they either don't have solution, don't care to update anyone on the issue and don't care that we rely on these machines for business.  I've had only bad experiences with this printer, from over priced toner, lack of support, unresolved errors, printer jams, hours spent trying to trouble shoot, I just selected  calibrate - it results in error 79 and reboots, I just select a Usage report - it results in error 79 and reboots.  I bought this printer for about $600 on amazon, impressed with all the new web interface tech, more than I'll ever need at a home office, but misled to believe it could duplex scan an essential key feature for ANY printer - my canon inkjet had it!!. I feel let down and frustrated.  I've always had good experience with HP laserjet for decades and I've had this printer for a year and haven't printed much, but scanned  more.  I've probably put 500 pages and can't believe this had died on me - bricked.  $450 FOR TONER.

well, same problem on my device 😞

luckily i found older fw 2021-12-21 and after downgrading, everything works OK so i turned the autoupgrade off (oh, thanks for this option :)).

latest fw 2022-07-29 has definitely some bug 😞

I think that there is already a fix without fw downgrade ...

factory reset:

Solved: Service Error 79 on HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw - HP Support Community - 8480540

 

or just restore defaults in printers menu Setup - Service - Restore Defaults
