HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

At some point in the last week firmware 20220729 was installed on my M283fdw Last Jet Pro.  It keep rebooting, sitting on the home screen for few minutes then says '79 Service Error' 'Turn off then on'.  It eventually reboots on its own and restarts. Restarting it myself using the power button on the from doesn't help.  I have tried turning off IPV6 that was in a similar post. I also turned off automatic updates. I am running on a wired connection. I wasn't printing or doing anything else to make this occur.

Can HP support please tell me what I can do next?

Hi Nirvana_95,

I couldn't get to your document link https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 with a 404 error but am essentially having the same exact trouble with the Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw - 79 Service Error (Rebooting) We now have 2 doing this!

Even though we have auto updates disabled (at least that was the selection we made during setup) the printer went through an update sequence on its own and now just keeps rebooting with the service error 79. I've seen other recommendations to update the firmware to correct. The problem is we can't updated the firmware if it is going to keep restarting.

Should we try a factory reset perhaps prior to updating the firmware?

Your assistance is appreciated,

Mark

Hello Nirvana and thanks for helping 🙂

My model is the : Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw

Someone spoke about disconnecting eweb hpeprint  services...i have disconnected everything nothing work !! still rebooting.

Making searches on in the internet about that error lead to the exact same model of printer since 2 weeks !! that really mean that it is the firmware that have been pushed has a bug !!

Is there any way to get back the old firmware please ?

Same issue here, this started on 9/29/2022. Why is HP bricking our printers?

HP Recommended

Yup,  on my M283fdw I have the same symptoms and nothing seems to resolve.  "Turn off and back on" -- Seriously???

Disable web services doesn't help either.

Sure seems to me to be a firmware issue.  Sure would be nice to be able to roll back.

Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw - rebooting on its own randomly.  Updated Firmware - am Using MAC OS - my printer is constantly rebooting itself and essentially useless, annoying and disruptive during my calls with clients. I am not able to access the print quality tools from the HP App either,
