LaserJet 1536 dnf scan software not loading

I'm having trouble scanning and have removed and reloaded full-function software for 1536dnf several times.  Print and Scan Doctor indicates it cannot find the scanner application software.  Scanner works with Scan and Capture app.  No desktop icon to scan through 1536 software as before.

This printer does not list as supported in Windows 11.

Windows 11 compatible HP printers

The full driver printer software supports up to and including Windows 10.

No full driver software = No HP Scan

The Print and Scan Doctor cannot fix this kind of issue.

• Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2 
• Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
• Not always simple “Plug and Play”, nonetheless, this free software is powerful and configurable.

Notes

• Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)

• NAPS2 might support higher resolutions while still using the ADF

and, possibly:

Windows Scan – Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher

• “Get” the application from the Store >  Windows Scan

and

Paint (mspaint)

Older software – not brilliant – does work for scanning images.                                                        

• Open  Paint
• Optional >> Expand the “white background” area to a size to accommodate your data.  If unknown, try 1300x1300
• File > Select “From Scanner or Camera”
• Select your printer > Follow the prompts to scan and then save your item

Thanks.  Guess it's time to give HP some more money for a new one.
