I have a LaserJet M234sdwe (all-in-one) printer. My problem is that at one point, I hit the touch screen, and the number of copies shown went from 1 to 99. Now I can't get it back to 1, and it keeps printing 98 additional copies. I have shut down the printer for hours, shut down both the computer and the printer, but nothing works.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi @bbialick,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be to watch your HP LaserJet M234sdwe churn out 99 copies when all you wanted was one. Let’s fix this so your printer behaves again and saves you time, paper, and toner.
How to Reset the Number of Copies on HP LaserJet M234sdwe
This issue is usually caused by a stuck setting in the printer’s copy menu. Here's how to reset it:
Step-by-Step Fix
- Wake the Printer
- Tap the touchscreen to wake it if it’s in sleep mode.
- Tap the touchscreen to wake it if it’s in sleep mode.
- Access the Copy Menu
- From the home screen, tap Copy.
- From the home screen, tap Copy.
- Adjust the Number of Copies
- You’ll see a number (likely 99) next to the copy icon.
- Tap the number field.
- Use the minus (-) button to reduce it back to 1.
- Alternatively, tap the number and manually enter 1 using the keypad.
- Confirm and Save
- Tap OK or Done to confirm the change.
- This should reset the default for future copy jobs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
