Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101 – Control Panel Stuck on Black Screen
1. Check Power Connection

  • Ensure the printer is plugged into a working power outlet (avoid power strips if possible).
  • Verify the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet to rule out power issues.
  • Confirm the power adapter or cable is not damaged.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds to allow residual power to drain.
  • While unplugged, press and hold the printer’s power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Plug the power cable back in and turn the printer on.
  • Observe if the control panel displays anything during startup.

3. Check Control Panel Lights

  • Look for blinking, solid, or unusual lights.
  • Record any blink patterns or colors, as these may correspond to specific errors (consult the user manual for codes).

4. Update Firmware

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date.
  • Firmware updates can fix display issues or control panel bugs.
  • You can update firmware via:
  • HP Smart App
  • Embedded Web Server (EWS) for networked printers
  • USB installation from HP website

5. Inspect for Physical Damage

  • Check for cracks, dents, or loose connectors on the control panel.
  • Ensure there is no debris, dust, or liquid around the display or buttons.

6. Perform a Power Cycle with Network Isolation

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables except power.
  • Wait 1–2 minutes, then turn on the printer.
  • If the control panel works, reconnect network or USB cables one at a time to identify if a peripheral is causing the issue.

7. Factory Reset (if accessible)

  • If the display comes on intermittently, navigate to Settings → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults.
  • Only attempt this if you can access the menu.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
