Laserjet 1020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laserjet 1020 printer is showing the following issue:

Everytime I have to print a document with more than 1 page the printing starts normally, but, out of nowhere, the printer simply stops printing and doesn't finish all the pages of the document.

This bug happens randomly. Sometimes the printer prints 2 pages and stops, others it prints 7 pages and stops, and on other occasions it prints all the folders of the document.

No error shows up on my PC, but when this bug occurs the warning lights on the printer blink red.

I have a temporary solution that is to turn off the printer and turn it back on again everytime this happens, then I have to set the new pages intervals on the document and print the rest of the pages left. Sometimes I need to redo all this process about 4 times to print a 20 page document.

So I need a definitive solution for this issue, because it is really making me lose a lot of time.

Hello! Thanks for the reply.

I actually found the solution.

I just needed to use the HP Print and Scan Doctor application and the issue apparently went away, now it is printing regularly without interruptions.

So if anyone else is having this issue, just use the HP Print and Scan Doctor application.

@Pagani01

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
