There are plenty of contributors explaining how to enter the printer service menu, remove the plastic and metal covers,
The PCB and various owners manual does not indicate which is SLOT 1 CF card slot. This is marked as SYSTEM CF or something similar. The other CF slot is directly below and has no special writing.
Some contributors have indicated these slots are also valid for font storage. This is the case until the JUMPER is altered to apply the SLOT1 CF installed as the primary boot image.
When interogating FTP access after sucessful fix, the information on the screeen made no sense to me so I have no specific information about any additional file download options. Given that HP already made this fix possible they knew there would be cases where this fix was valid.
Only issue a person might have is gaining access to another printer. For this fix you only need the PCB swap and not the whole printer. In any event, a permanent PCB swap is the next step.
* Access a diffrerent Lasterjet 5200
* You may need to format CF card. Mine was formatted by HP already.
* Install a CF card in the Slot 1 - SYSTEM CF
* Action service menu option as follows
COPY NAND to SLOT 1, OK
* Wait for copy % to reach 100%
* Install CF card with NAND image into SLOT 1 of broken printer
* Change pysical jumper setting on main PCB board from NAND to CF
This jumper is in the middle of the PCB
* boot printer
Should work fine.
