I have a Laserjet CP1525nw Color printer that has worked well with my Mac through OS 13. I recently upgraded my Mac to OS 14 and now the printer is not recognized.  I downloaded the latest driver from HP but still no luck.  Any ideas?

Hi @AlgerW,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate that you're experiencing issues with your printer after upgrading to macOS 14. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

Check Compatibility: Ensure that your Laserjet CP1525nw Color printer is officially supported by macOS 14. Visit the HP website or contact their support to confirm compatibility with the new operating system.

Verify Printer Connection: Double-check the physical connections between your printer and your Mac. Ensure that the USB or network cable is securely connected. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your Mac.

Remove and Reinstall the Printer:

  • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Go to "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select your printer from the list and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
  • Click the plus (+) button to add the printer again.
  • Choose your printer from the list and add it.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the printer firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or control-click) on the list of printers on the left and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Restart your Mac and add the printer again.

Check for Software Updates: Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, Apple releases updates that include printer compatibility improvements. Go to "System Preferences" > "Software Update" to check for updates.

Remember to back up any important data before making significant changes to your system or performing updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
