Hi @Nancy505 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is experiencing a blinking light issue and power cycling hasn’t resolved it, here are some steps you can try:
1. Identify the Blinking Light Pattern
- Look for any error codes or specific patterns (e.g., power light blinking, error light blinking). This will help identify the root cause.
- Check the printer display screen for a message or error code.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (bypass any power strips or surge protectors).
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.
3. Check for Paper Jams
- Open all printer covers and access areas.
- Inspect for jammed paper or debris. Remove any you find.
- Ensure the paper tray is loaded correctly and not overfilled.
4. Check Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door and check for proper installation.
- Remove and reseat the cartridges to ensure they are securely in place.
- Check for any warnings about low or empty ink.
5. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If the printer powers on and connects to a network, check for firmware updates:
- Open the HP Smart app or the HP Support website.
- Look for Firmware Update under your printer settings.
- Install any available updates.
6. Perform a Factory Reset
- On the printer control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.
- Confirm to reset the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
