I am experiancing really poor quality photo printing. Horizontal lines especailily in light blue skyes etc.
I am using HP Advanced Photo Paper and have printer setting on photo paper and fine quality. I have installed new genuine HP cartridges (both colour and black), I have used printer alignment, and run a print quality report, and tried cleaning print heads.
Are these printers not capable of printing a good quality photo?
I did not have this problem with my old Epsom!
Any help/guidence whould be much appreciated.

Hi @1973James,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are facing print quality issues with your HP ENVY 5530 All-in-One Printer.
Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.
And here are a few steps for you in the link: Fixing Poor Print Quality
Also, you may remove one of the cartridges, print a page and then swap it with the other cartridges and check if it is the same issue with both the cartridges when they are installed one at a time.
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.

I had already found and walked through the steps within the article prior to posting on the forum and unfortunately this did not resolve the issue.
Looking closely at the print quality report I can see white lines in the blue colour box?
Does this me that the print head for the colour is faulty? Is it worth continued print head cleaning process or has the printer reached the end of its durability. Will be disappointed if so as not very old and not been used a great deal.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, @1973James
I see that you were interacting with @Rainbow23. He is out of office and I'd like to help 🙂
First off, the print head on Envy 5530 is integrated along with the cartridges. Hence if the print head is faulty / not working correctly, then the easiest way to fix it is by changing the cartridges.
Having said that, going through your post, it looks like an issue with the printer print settings on your PC causing the issue. While feeding the photo paper to the photo, you need to keep “Glossy” or print side facing down. Also, it is important to change the print settings before you print a photo. Check the settings mentioned below:
- Go to control panel - Devices and printers
- Right-click on your Envy and choose the "Printing preferences" option.
- Now, go to paper quality / layout tab and make sure the paper type is selected as "Photo paper".
- Also, select the correct paper size and save the settings.
Now, follow the steps mentioned to print the photo:
- Open the picture using “Windows Photo Viewer” (You can right-click on the image and go to “Open with” to select the windows photo viewer app)
- Change the paper size appropriately.
- Also, change the paper type to “photo paper” before printing.
You can check detailed instructions here: http://hp.care/2enTQLv
If the above steps do not solve the issue, then try to change the cartridge and check.
Please let me know whether that works for you or you need further assistance. Thank you!
Cheers 🙂
