Hi @Jlwabby,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Load Paper" error on your HP ENVY 7640 can be caused by a few things. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure the paper is properly aligned in the tray. The paper should not be overfilled and should sit below the paper guides to avoid any jams.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Even a small jam could trigger the error. Open all paper compartments (front, back, and side) and carefully check for any paper stuck inside.

Clean the Paper Sensor:

  • Dust or debris on the paper sensor can cause the printer to think there's no paper. Try gently cleaning the sensor using a soft cloth or compressed air.

Restart the Printer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then power it back on to see if it resets the error.

Check the Paper Type:

  • Ensure you're using paper that the printer can handle (e.g., plain, letter, A4 size paper). Some types of paper (like photo paper or very thick paper) can sometimes cause issues.

Reinstall the Paper Tray:

  • Remove the paper tray, reload it, and reinsert it to ensure the printer is correctly detecting the tray.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
