Let's try these steps:
Step 1: Check if the photo paper is supported by your printer.
Use this link to check the media sizes and weights supported by your printer.
Step 2: Power Reset.
- Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
- Turn the printer on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Try to print, if the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Remove and reload the paper on the photo tray.
Refer this document to know how to load the photo paper.
On closing the paper tray, you will get an alert 'Have You Changed the Paper?'
-
If 4x6 in., Photo Paper displays in the Photo Tray field, the photo paper is loaded correctly in the photo tray. Touch OK to return to the Home screen, or wait several seconds to allow the printer to automatically return to the Home screen.
-
If the Photo Tray field displays as Empty, open the photo tray and make sure that the photo paper is pushed all the way to the rear of the tray, and then push the photo tray into the printer as far as possible. Push the input tray into the printer until it locks into place, and then check the touchscreen to make sure that 4x6 in., Photo Paper displays in the Photo Tray field.
(If you do not get any prompt, try opening the paper tray and close it.)
Once the paper type and size is selected, try printing.
If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver
The printer might not pick up paper if the paper size and type in the paper tray do not match the paper size and type settings in the print driver.
For Windows PC
-
Return to the document that you were trying to print when the issue occurred.
-
Click File, and then click Print.
-
Select your printer, and then click the Properties button.
-
Click the Paper/Quality or Paper tab.
-
From the Paper Size drop-down list, select the option that matches your paper size.
-
From the Media drop-down list, or for the paper source or type, select the paper type that matches the paper loaded in the printer.
-
Click OK to apply the settings.
-
Click OK or Print.
For MAC OS
-
Return to the document that you were trying to print when the issue occurred.
-
Click File, and then click Print.
-
Select the Paper Size that matches the paper loaded in the printer.
-
Click Print to try the print job again.
For the android device, you can use the HP Smart App(available on Play Store for free) to select the correct paper settings.
If the issue persists after changing the driver settings, proceed to the next step.
Step 5: Clean the paper feed and pick rollers
