We are convinced this issue is purposefully done by HP.  This annoying delay happens whenever we start getting the "low toner" messages. We feel certain this is HP's method to force people to replace the toner cartridge's far before they really need replaced.  there is absolutely no fix for this issue and it always happens when cartridges' toner is reporting low.  We can get between a week to 3 weeks continued printing after getting the low toner messages. The delay gets to be so frustrating you will want to replace the toner and then you will notice all prints just fine and speedy.

In summary, we are convinced this is a ploy/scam by HP to make you go through toner cartridge's more often. You can reboot, turn off and back on all you want. The issue will not fix itself until you replace a low toner cartridge.  It must be a scam they put into their software code in order to purposefully create long delays whenever low toner is in the mix. Total scam, totally a thing and no fix available from HP other than to change out a toner that has HUNDREDS more pages left in it.

@PrinterUser6003, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand your concern. However, this is the first time I'm hearing something of this sort. We have no complaints of slow printing when the ink toners are low.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Slow printing

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

The things you suggest do not work. Your comment that this is the first time you ever heard of such a thing is odd because there are 3,130,000 results  if you type into google HP delays printing.

This is ONLY an issue once the HP status shows supplies are low or very low. Then we experience delays from 10 seconds to 5 minutes. Yes, actually 5 minutes in many cases.

THE MOMNENT the printer toners are replaced and then after the printer goes through start up from a toner replacement, the printer works perfectly fine until the next time we start getting the HP printer message. "Printing Document. Supplies are very low." This supplies are very low message seems disingenuous too. We can print another several hundred pages when the message comes up. Then add the fact the printer goes into a mode that is so annoying you want to through it out a window due to the delays, and you may better understand the reason for feeling HP has done this on purpose.

You mention updating the firmware. Well, we have history with the HP firmware update methods over the years with other printers. I have lost two multifunction HUGELY expensive printers after following suggestion to update firmware. It bricked the printer in both instances and your tech people said nothing could be done about the issue. So at that time we threw out the printers and bought more printers of any brand other than HP we could find.

Unfortunately, I must not have learned my lesson about HP... now we have this new issue. Please don't reply with things you and I both know will not work and will be a waste of energy for everyone. A simply lying answer that the printer needs to recalibrate because toners may be low would be a better answer and lie than suggesting firmware upgrades to fix a delay issue that only happens when HP reporting states toners getting low.

I am upset, to say the least. I feel YOU need to learn more about your product. This is not just me. This is millions of users seeing this issue in your printers, so I don't appreciate the reply stating you have never heard of such an issue before. It insults my intelligence, as low as that may be.
