Product: Inkjet pro 8600
Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an Inkjet Pro 8600 that is giving "Ink system failure" messages.  Normally I would just replace the printer, since repair costs are generally too high.

 

My wife is an artist, and she uses the printer to print backgrounds for artwork she subsequently colors using alcohol-based markers.  We have looked at several printers from HP. Epson and Canon, and they all have the same problem - the black ink smears when she uses the markers.  The ink that is in the "950" ind cartrige for my old printer does not smear.

 

So, I'm looking for either a new HP printer that uses the same ink formula as is used in the 950 cartridge, or some reasonable approach to repairing my current printer.

There are 5 printer models use HP 950 and HP 950XL ink cartridges. Please check the gollowing list
