Several HP experts in this forum have tried to help me correct the alignment failed error in this MFP with no success (their assistance has been deeply appreciated) and the final conclusion was it is probably a hardware problem. My question is is this officejet 8500 worth $ to send it to HP for service and if so where do I take or send it to?

Hi @morte,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A Good day to you. 🙂 I read the post regarding the printer having issues with alignment. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Stupendous effort, brilliant description and very smart diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are an important HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I also take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
If you’ve tried all the steps by experts and I have no doubt in my mind about it that you have, I request you to contact HP phone support to get the printer exchanged or upgraded. It is not repaired but replaced or upgraded for a new one.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

Thanks David,
Got down to step 4 and the only option I was given was a twitter sign in. Sorry but I don't do twitter. There was no opportunity to obtain a phone # or get any kind of work order. Is there another way I can get a phone # for HP service? This unit is out of warranty as of 12/31/2015.
