HP OfficeJet Pro 8725
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently received a HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 printer, but I didn't receive any of the SETUP-cartridges.
Now I don't really mind buying some new cartridges, so I did that.

However the printer won't install without the SETUP-Cartridges.

I have searched this forum for a solution but I couldn't find one that worked.

I kind of need this printer to function soon, is there any way to bypass this screen?

Regards,
William

Well I really needed it to work now, and luckily with a lot of googling and trying I succeeded. I solved it by opening the hidden support menu then allowing trade OOBE and setting initializing inkt to clear. Restarted the machine and it booted all the way.
Then I had a big struggle with the drivers not picking up the printer via USB, which somehow was fixed by running the latest windows creators update.

Anyway still thx for the help. 🙂

@DutchWilliam

Ah -- good job.

There are solutions we cannot (should not) provide directly.  Hidden support menus are one of those "gray" areas around which we (forum volunteer Experts) must tread lightly because of the risk of damaging the printer if something goes wrong.

I am glad it is resolved.

I have the samekind of experience as William. Personally I find it very weird and bad that;

1st - a setup cartridge is needed

2nd - if lost, it's not possible to purchase a new one

3rd - the helpdesk of HP doesn't give the solution even there is a solution

As I don't know how to solve this problem, I've a printer which can be placed into the garbage. How HP can offer this afwul service?

Commentary

1.  Ideally, the Setup cartridge message is only displayed during the initial (first) setup of the printer.  There are circumstances that cause the printer to display the message "after" that first initialization.

2.  That is correct, the error must be corrected / bypassed OR new Setup cartridges must be obtained from HP.  Setup Cartridges are not a retail item.

3.  Did you contact HP Technical Support using prescribed methods posted earlier in this thread?

If you opened a case with HP Technical Support:

  • Were you told there is no solution?

OR

  • Were you told there is a solution and you cannot have it?

If the answer is yes to either question, let us know and I will forward that information.

Do not post it here, please have available your HP case number.
