Hi @Rudnick1950
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’ve lost the print function on your printer while other functions are still working, here are some steps to help you restore it:
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to the same network as your computer (if using Wi-Fi).
- Check for any error messages or lights on the printer itself.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off your printer and computer. Wait a minute, then turn them back on. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.
Reconnect the Printer:
- If your printer is connected via USB, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. For network printers, you may need to reconnect to the Wi-Fi.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your computer.
- Select your printer and click Remove device. Then, reinstall the printer either by using the Add a printer or scanner option or by downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
Check Printer Queue:
- Open the Devices and Printers section in the Control Panel (or Settings).
- Right-click your printer and select See what’s printing. If there are stuck jobs, cancel them and try printing again.
Set as Default Printer:
- In Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, ensure your printer is set as the default printer.
Run Printer Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Run the Printer troubleshooter to detect and fix any issues.
Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
- Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block the print function. Temporarily disable them to see if it resolves the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
