Hello everyone, well here we go 59.C0 error on a m276NW, here are a lot of details I have gone thru.

This printer has been bullet proof up until this error so I REALLY want to fix it!

HP LaserJet Pro 200 M276NW – Error code 59.C0 “Developer Motor Rotation Error”

Problem began: Approximately 6 months ago after changing toner cartridges I closed the door the printer did its normal cycle then the error code 59.C0 appeared, I re-booted, pulled plug and let sit, re-started, no help. Re-installed original toner cartridges, no help.

History / What I have tried: Prior to this failure there have been zero issues with the printer.

I have checked the solenoid that is blamed for causing this code, it works perfectly, the sponge damper is in perfect condition, no stickiness at all.

The main gearbox runs quiet, there are no worn gears, no plastic debris (from gear wear, etc.), there is still lubrication on the internal gears of the gearbox.

I removed all toner cartridges and re-started, no help.

After having the entire printer disassembled, inspected and re-assembled I tried it again, same error!

As a “just-in-case” I replaced the main drive motor, I am assuming the “Main Drive Motor” and the “Developer Motor” are the same beast as I cant find any reference to a developer motor in the parts catalog. Perhaps I am wrong. No help, same error. I replaced the controller card that the main motor connector attaches to, no help.

I put the printer aside for about 2-3 months, I was about to discard it but had read somewhere to hold the “on” button during the entire boot sequence, it worked!! The printer booted right up and I have been using it since with absolutely no issues! During this time I have not needed to turn the unit off.

This week I needed to turn the printer off to replace the yellow toner cartridge and here we go again, 59.C0!!

The firmware is up to date.

All toner cartridges turn freely.

Gearbox turns freely and runs quietly.

Solenoid is functioning, not sticking.

All toner cartridges removed, still getting error.

Have tried again holding the power button thru the boot cycle, no help.

Thru research I have found that if the unit is turned off OR the front door is opened (to change the cartridge(s) the printer will go thru a wait stage when turned back on or the front door is closed, so I don’t think that my error is being caused by anything to do with the toner cartridges.

The sequence I am seeing is, power on, slight delay, the fan and the main motors run, the gearbox gears are indeed spinning, a longer delay with the white progress bar on the display moving, then virtually at the same time that the “Initializing” screen appears there is a beep, then the error code is displayed, the rest of the motors run and the printer seems to be fine other than the error code being displayed, of course it wont print....

I have done a factory re-set, no help.

Again, if the printer gets through the boot-up phase it works as good as new, so I really want to figure this out.

With the error code in-view I can hit the home button and scan an image to a usb drive but the unit will not copy / print.

The printer connects to the wifi just fine.

Can anyone tell me how the main motor rotation is sensed?

Are there any other ideas as to why it cant get thru the boot but when it did it operated fine?

What am I missing?

It sure seems like every thing is physically working fine and maybe it is a sensor fault(??)

Thank you in advance,

Bob

I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer that has an error code and you have performed most of the troubleshooting steps to fix it and that did not help.

I've sent you a private message with the instructions to perform a factory reset on your printer.
