I have an M4101 mfp , there is no paper feed on document feeder, the rollers do not turn to feed the paper, there are no warning lights or error codes, it just stopped feeding, and there is nothing caught on the paper path, the machine copies from the glass ok.

Hi @rigthejig,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the document feeder rollers on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101 printer are not rotating and there are no warning lights or error codes, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Test the document feeder again to see if the rollers start functioning.

Check the Document Feeder Roller Alignment

  • Open the document feeder and inspect the rollers to ensure they are correctly aligned and seated in place.
  • Look for signs of wear or damage on the rollers.

Clean the Rollers Thoroughly

  • Even though they appear spotlessly clean, use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution specifically for rollers to clean them again. Sometimes invisible residue can cause slipping.
  • Ensure the rollers are completely dry before testing.

Test with Different Paper

  • Try feeding a different type or weight of paper through the document feeder. Ensure the paper meets the specifications of the printer and is not too thick or thin.

Inspect the Feeder Sensor

  • Open the document feeder and check for any small sensors that might be blocked by dust or debris.
  • Gently clean the sensors with a soft brush or cloth.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit the HP support website and check for any firmware updates for your LaserJet Pro MFP 4101.
  • Updating the firmware may resolve any software-related issues with the document feeder.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • Access the printer's control panel and navigate to the Setup menu.
  • Look for Printer Maintenance or Restore Factory Settings.
  • Resetting the printer may restore proper functionality to the document feeder.

Run a Printer Diagnostic Test

  • Use the built-in diagnostic tools on your printer to identify any issues with the document feeder.
  • Navigate to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report or a similar menu to access diagnostic options.

Check the ADF Drive Assembly

  • If the rollers are not turning at all, the issue might be with the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) drive assembly or motor.
  • This may require professional service or replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
