My MFP 281fdw printer has been working without any issues for several years. A week ago I lost power in my home office for a few minutes. Since then, the printer has shut down every couple of days - no power at all. The only way to get it to power on again is to remove the power cord for a few minutes and then plug it back in. Then it works fine - until the process repeats in two days.
Although the printer is plugged into a power strip (along with my computer), the same thing happens if I plug directly to a wall socket. Any thoughts / assistance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello @ADGCO ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Check all settings in the printer. The default values were reloaded due to the power failure.
The energy settings and fax settings may have changed.
Print out the configuration pages.
Kind Regards

Thank you. In fact I did that before posting, but I don't see any setting that would cause the printer to shut off every two days. Options for sleep settings range from 1 minute to one hour, and "shut down after activity" is either 4 hours or 8 hours. Is there some other setting I should be checking?

What about the fax connection?
Did you print out the old configurations a year ago?

Based on experience in shop on this, either the power supply, DC controller or formatter are failing. Unfortunately. diagnostics built into this series are very limited and troubleshooting often comes down to swapping parts, a difficult proposition for a home user who does not have a stash of spares.
