I'm having trouble with a persistent 30.03.45 error code. Here are the things I've tried:

Rebooted several times

Checked all cable connections to SCB

Installed latest firmware

Changed out Scanner Control Board

Partial clean of the HDD

Replaced scanner head

Replaced entire scanner unit

Changed out formatter board

I've run out of ideas. Any help is appreciated!

Hello @chrishiepler ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This error has a different meaning: 30.03.45 .

It is this printer after all: HP Color LaserJet Enterprise flow MFP M880 series ?

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for replying! Yes, that is the model printer I have.
I'm concerned about doing a full format of the HDD because in the past when I tried to update the firmware via a USB stick, it tells me that there is no bootable device found. The only thing I have loaded on the USB stick is the .bdl file from the website.

It appears the link to HP Enterprise you provided only offers help on servers, storage, networking, and software but nothing for printer support. Do you have another link for HP enterprise level help with printers?

Sorry,

then you have only this option:

If the error persists, contact your HP-authorized service or support provider, or contact customer support at www.hp.com/go/contactHP.

I suspect there is no service contract.

Just to clarify, the printer never boots from the USB stick. When clearing the hard drive, you first go into the pre-boot menu by turning on the machine and touching the HP logo when the startup count starts. Once in the pre-boot menu, go to administration and then select partial clean. Nothing will appear to happen but then use the back arrow to go back till you see continue and then click OK. The machine will restart and create a fresh copy of the operating system. Keep in mind this will clear all user data and settings. If you still get a no bookable drive error then you may have a bad hard drive. You can test it from the diagnostics menu in the preboot menus.

Repairatrooper, thanks for replying! I have already gone into the pre-boot menu to do a partial clean. That executed fine. The machine boots all the way on its own but gives me the scanner error. It appears I can use the machine in other ways that don't require the scanner. However, I really need the scanner to work.

The "No bootable device" message appears only when trying to update/install the firmware from a USB device using the pre-boot menu. I was going to do a full format & reinstall but because of this error message when trying to do an update, I have resisted.

If the firmware version in the machine is already the same version as what is on the USB stick, will it display this message? If I suspect the machine's firmware is corrupted, wouldn't I be able to overwrite it with what is on the USB stick without formatting? Or would I have to format the HDD first? I thought partial clean might rule out any OS problems but since I'm still getting my scanner error message I was going to try a full format & reinstall. At this point, I'm just throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks!
