My home office is directly above the room where the Modem is, so it is not possible to run up and down 14 stairs -- and there is no way on this model for me to choose anything. Previously, it was only when a an HP tech person took control of the computer remotely that the problem has been fixed. I need a phone call.

Hi @FrustratedBarb,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP MFP M234DW printer isn't connecting to Wi-Fi and you can't easily move it closer to your modem,
here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check Printer and Network Settings:
- Ensure your printer is powered on and within range of your Wi-Fi network.
- Make sure the Wi-Fi network is working and other devices can connect to it.
- Restart Devices:
- Restart your printer, modem, and router. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
- Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer if you haven't already.
- Follow the app's instructions to set up your printer on the network. The app often provides troubleshooting steps and can guide you through the setup process.
- Wireless Setup Wizard:
- On your printer, go to the control panel and navigate to the wireless setup options (usually under the settings menu).
- Select the option to connect to a wireless network and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Manual Wireless Configuration:
- If your printer has a control panel with an LCD screen, you may be able to manually enter your Wi-Fi network details.
- Go to the wireless settings menu and select your network. Enter your Wi-Fi password if prompted.
- Printer's IP Address:
- If your printer is connected to a network but not communicating with your computer, you might need to enter the printer’s IP address manually on your computer. You can find this IP address in the printer’s network settings or from the printer’s configuration page.
- Network Troubleshooting:
- Check if there are any network issues by trying to connect other devices to the Wi-Fi network.
- Ensure that your network is set to 2.4 GHz if your printer does not support 5 GHz networks.
- Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
