HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw that is stuck with the error "Jam in Paper path. Open back of printer and paper tray"  I have checked many times over that there is no paper stuck anywhere. I have tried power cycling the printer. I tried updating the printers firmware but Im not sure if it went through because I cant do anything on the printer until it recognizes there is no jam.

I'll take any advice at this point. Maybe there is a way to factory reset the printer that Im not seeing anywhere or a spot deep down that a paper can be stuck I am just not seeing.

Thank you,

Nick

Paper jam is probably stuck in the fuser unit or the fuser exit sensor is broken.  It is difficult to see in assembled condition.  Covers, flat bed scanner, and fuser will have to be removed.  The M281, M282 are similar.  You will need repair manual.

You do not need to remove the scanner to remove the fuser on this model, but both sides and the back have to come off. As suggested a manual is a good idea.
