Please can someone help!

MFP M476dn wont print, or copy. Just makes the usual noises but emits no paper, then repeats itself. Have to manually stop the process.

Have pressed the engine test button using a paperclip, the printer makes all the noises but again emits no test page. It then repeats the process continually until I manually stop the process by pressing the cancel button.

Have marked the triangular drives on each toner cartridge, and after trying to print can confirm they have moved.

Printer is quite old but has low usage.

Thanks

Hi @Evs5

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dn is making noises as if it's printing or copying but nothing is being printed or copied, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check for Paper Jams:

    • Open the trays and inspect them for any obstructions or paper jams.
    • Ensure there are no bits of paper stuck in the printer.
  2. Inspect the Paper Supply:

    • Make sure there is paper in the tray. If the tray is empty, fill it and ensure the paper is properly aligned.
    • Verify that the paper meets the specifications for the printer.
  3. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
    • Wait at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in and restarting the printer.
  4. Check Printer Status:

    • Open the printer's control panel and look for any error messages or warning lights.
    • Access the printer's settings to verify the current status and troubleshoot any indicated issues.
  5. Test Print:

    • Try printing a test page to see if the printer can feed paper and print.
    • Use the touchscreen control panel to navigate to the menu and select the test print option.
  6. Update Firmware and Drivers:

    • Visit the HP support website to check for any available firmware updates or software driver updates.
    • Install updates if available to address any known issues or bugs.
  7. Inspect and Clean the Printer:

    • Open the printer's front door and ensure the ink cartridges are correctly installed.
    • Clean any accessible rollers and ensure they are not dirty or sticking.

I hope this helps!

Regards
