I have a MPF M477dfw and am getting the error "60.02". I had just moved and the printer was boxed and moved without the color cartridges. When setting up in the new location, I keep getting Error60.02 and none of the available remedies works (turn off, turn on. removed paper, etc). Do I need a new lift motor and/or tray sensor switch?

Are you plugged directly into the wall? If not, you need to try that. Also make sure that the metal insert in the tray that lifts the paper moves freely. They can get jammed.

Thanks for the fast response! Yes, I am plugged directly into the wall socket--no intermediate circuit breakers. The metal plate on the tray moves freely. However, the gears on the left side that should lift the paper seem frozen and cannot be moved by hand. Is that normal?

Are you referring to gears on the tray or the gears in the tray cavity. The lift motor uses a worm gear and is very difficult to rotate by hand (pretty much hard enough you would think they are locked. If there are gears on the tray they can usually be turned.

The gears on the tray move easily and smoothly. It's the gears in the "tray cavity" that do not move, but I understand that since they are turned by a worm gear, they might not move by hand. Any suggestions for the next course of action?
