Hi @CCBJR,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Missing or Failed Printhead" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8610 can be quite frustrating. Here are some steps to help resolve the issue.
Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds.
Reinstall the Printhead:
- Open the printer’s front door to access the printhead.
- Remove the printhead by pressing the release latch or button.
- Check for any visible obstructions or ink buildup.
- Reinstall the printhead carefully, ensuring it is properly seated.
Check for Ink Cartridge Issues:
- Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to make sure they are correctly installed.
- Ensure that each cartridge clicks into place and that no protective tape remains on the cartridges.
Clean the Printhead Contacts:
- Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the printhead contacts and the area where the printhead makes contact with the printer.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or HP's website.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- After reinstalling the printhead and cartridges, turn the printer back on. If the error persists, perform a hard reset by unplugging the printer, waiting for a minute, and then plugging it back in.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
