Hi @MARIQC,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2130 suddenly doesn't recognize the cartridge, there could be a few reasons behind this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Make sure they are firmly seated and properly clicked into place.
  • Clean Contacts: Sometimes, the electrical contacts on the cartridges or inside the printer can become dirty, preventing proper communication. Gently wipe the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on again and check if the issue is resolved.
  • Update Firmware: If available, update the printer's firmware. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for cartridge recognition issues.
  • Try Another Cartridge: If you have another set of cartridges (or just one), try inserting a different cartridge to see if the issue is with the cartridge itself.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the cartridges, turn off the printer, and unplug it. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Reinsert the cartridges one by one.
  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Using third-party or refilled cartridges might lead to recognition issues.
  • Reset Printer: Some printers have a reset option that can help clear errors. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the contacts on the cartridges are visibly dirty or smudged, you can use a cotton swab dipped in distilled water to gently clean them. Make sure the cartridges are completely dry before reinstalling them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
