In last couple of weeks it has started to print PDFs either white out of black, OR, ok, but with great big black panels for the white areas where there is no text. Found a similar question from a few years ago and the SOLUTION to print using Acrobat IS NOT THE ANSWER!!!
PLEASE HELP - Am wasting so much ink!!!

Hi @Pippa7,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds really frustrating to deal with this kind of printer issue. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the problem of printing PDFs with incorrect color or large black areas:
Update Printer Drivers and Software: Make sure your printer drivers are up-to-date. HP often release updates that fix bugs or improve performance. Visit the HP website, find your printer model, and download the latest drivers.
Check Printer Settings: Sometimes printer settings can cause unusual print outputs. Check your printer's settings for anything that might affect color output, such as toner density or quality settings. Make sure it's set to print PDFs as they appear.
Try a Different PDF Reader: Since using Acrobat didn't solve the issue, try a different PDF reader like Foxit Reader or SumatraPDF to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the software.
Adjust PDF Print Settings: When printing the PDF, check the print settings in the PDF reader. Look for any settings related to "Print as Image" or similar and try toggling this setting. Sometimes printing as an image instead of a document can bypass issues related to document formatting.
Check the PDF File Itself: If this issue happens with specific PDF files and not others, the problem might be with the files themselves. If possible, regenerate or obtain a new copy of the problematic PDFs.
Print from a Different Computer: Sometimes, the issue might be related to your computer's configuration. Try printing the same PDF file from a different computer to see if the issue continues.
Printer Maintenance: Run maintenance tasks on your printer, such as cleaning or aligning the print heads. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform these tasks.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
