I suddenly cannot print from my MacBook Pro to my HP Office Jet Pro 9010 .  The job just stays stuck with the message "Printer in use" showing up and never prints.  My Dell laptop prints just fine. It's just a Mac issue and just started a few days ago.  I have rebooted the computer, deleted and reloaded the printer in the System Preferences, no help.  Any ideas?

@ASLAT, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print from your Mac. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from? Are you using the HP Smart app?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Restart the Mac and the printer.

Check the connectivity: Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. Open a new Terminal window (it's located in Applications > Utilities, or you can just start typing it in Spotlight).
  3. Enter “ping” followed by the IP address of the printer.
  4. Press Return. Press ctrl C after 10 pings
  5. There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Hi Kumar,

Thank you for your response.  I was actually able to fix the issues yesterday by doing the following:

Turned off the router, turned off the printer, turned off my Mac then turned off all other devices.  Waited a few minutes then turned them all back on one at a time in the same order.  It worked!
