I have a LaserJet m252dw. It's always worked great, but been having some printing issues the last few months. This is for home use and gets used rarely.

When I print in color, there are magenta splotches all over the page, and a magenta streak down the left side.

When I print in B&W, the main part of the page is clean, but there is a magenta streak on the left side.

When I open up the cover, it seems there is magenta toner on the platen (?) underneath, and there is plenty of magenta toner on the belt which turns the roller, so I imagine that is the magenta on the belt that is causing that magenta streak on the B&W pages. (there is also some blue toner down there, but doesn't seem to be causing any problems. so maybe the magenta toner I'm seeing isn't causing the problems on the printed page).

Any suggestions for how to proceed? Is it somehow possible to just get in there, or pull pieces out, and clean things up (e.g. the belt)? Is there something wrong with that toner cartridge?

Most likely you have a failed magenta cartridge. The only time there should be toner on the transfer belt is when actual printing is happening. Toner any other time would suggest a leak.
