Setup:
Letter Head - 7.25"x10.5" - in Tray 3
Plain Paper - 8.5"x14" - in Tray 2
Current Issue:
When printing Letter Head and doing a next print job for Plain Paper, the HP machine (printer) defaults to Tray 1 even though there is nothing in tray 1 (Bypass Tray) and the door is closed. I would print from one source (Plain paper or Letter head) and print to another and the machine defaults to Tray 1 (bypass) even thought the door is closed and I would have to manually go the machine and choose the tray desired.
Machine Mode:
LaserJet M608
Tech Notes:
Machine's firm was downloaded from manufacturers website onto a USB, plugged into the machine and ran Firmware updated and that eventually failed. No error messages and no error code

This error can be caused by a corrupted firmware, but the most common cause is that the print job is requesting a paper size or type that is not installed. The printer only tries to match media to what it is being told to print by the driver and print job.
If the firmware update failed, you may want to try updating the firmware from the preboot menu. Restart the printer and when anything appears on the screen, press the "x" button or if you have a touch screen, touch the logo. Printer will start with a blue colored screen with options (like dos). Select administration>download and then insert the USB key and select the last option for downloads. Device will then copy the firmware file to the printer. Restart when it says complete and let device start up.
