Hope envy 5640

Hi

i have been trying to print 240g/m paper (it says this can print up to 250g/m so should work) but it is moving the margin!! The table is central on print preview but is much closer to the left hand side of the paper when printed than the right. Please help!!  I am print a full landscape table with text in the header and footer but everything is shifted to the left. This means I can’t print on the back because it’s completely off centre.

Printer supports Photo Paper at this weight.

Specifications > Paper Handling

Media weight, supported (metric)
Tray 1: A4: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP Photo Paper: up to 250 g/m²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 250 g/m²

Solution

Use Photo Paper to print your data.

Discussion

This spec does not include the definition for "card" paper or other heavier "plain paper" varieties.

Unfortunately, nothing I have found for this printer indicates the precise kind of supported "cards".  I might have missed something, of course.  My "find it" skills are good, but not perfect.  Smiling.

In general, and if you can find a Media type Index in your supported Media type list, Index card weight is typically restricted to the following:

Cards
Up to 200 g/m2 (110 lb index)

NOTE:  The reference is from the specifications for a printer that does support "Index cards".

In the case of the Envy 5640, it is more likely (due to the tray capacity restriction of 40 cards) that the heavier card (110 lb) weight is not supported at all.  This means the paper weight for Media "card" is restricted to the mentioned 90lb and maybe even 72lb.
