Have been told the maximum paper weight for the HP Envy 6000 All-in-one series is 60-90 gsm for A4. Has anyone tried anything heavier than that? Seems off it will take HP cards (whatever those are) up to 200gsm.

Hi @MorrellMM,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Envy 6000 All-in-One series printers are indeed capable of handling a range of paper weights, but there are some important considerations to keep in mind regarding paper weight compatibility.
Maximum Paper Weight for HP Envy 6000 Series
**1. Standard Paper Weights:
- Normal Paper: Typically, the HP Envy 6000 series supports paper weights from 60 to 90 gsm (grams per square meter) for standard A4 or letter-sized paper.
**2. Special Media:
- HP Cards: For HP's specialty media such as photo cards or glossy paper, the weight can go up to 200 gsm or more. This is because these media types are specifically designed for high-quality printing and often include additional coatings.
Handling Heavier Paper:
If you want to print on paper heavier than 90 gsm, like photo paper or card stock:
**1. Check Manufacturer Specifications:
- Always refer to the printer’s manual or HP’s official website for the most accurate and detailed specifications. For many printers, there is a limit beyond which the paper feed mechanisms might struggle or cause jams.
**2. Use Appropriate Settings:
- Print Settings: Adjust your printer settings to accommodate thicker paper. In the print dialog, select the paper type that matches the weight and finish of the media you are using (e.g., photo paper, glossy paper).
**3. Feed Paper Carefully:
- Paper Tray: Make sure the paper is properly aligned and loaded in the tray. For thicker media, it might be necessary to adjust the paper guides to fit the paper snugly without causing jams.
- Manual Feed: Some printers have a manual feed slot for thicker media. Check if your model has this feature.
**4. Test a Small Batch:
- Run Tests: Before printing a large job, test a few sheets to ensure that the printer handles the heavier paper without issues. Monitor for any signs of paper jams or feed problems.
**5. Paper Quality:
- Use Quality Paper: Ensure you are using high-quality paper that is designed for inkjet printers. Poor-quality or non-standard paper can lead to print quality issues or printer malfunctions.
Summary:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
