@wolverine73, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are getting this error on the printer. Let us try these steps:
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Memory is Low message displayed on the control panel
If the issue persists, turning off the IPV6 on the printer may resolve this issue.
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer's EWS page.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Thanks for the suggestions. There is no firmware update available for my printer. I downloaded Adobe, just in case that was it. And then I saw the following in the documentation: "If you are . . . getting a ‘memory is low’ error when trying to print a PDF, try printing it as an image." I have this problem only with PDFs, so I can do this image thing if necessary. But there's another workaround suggestion to "break complex print jobs into smaller jobs that contain fewer pages." I'm doing that, and it's working. If I get tired of these workarounds, maybe I'll change some software and/or print driver settings. So I'm set for now. Thanks again.

Yes, if this is happening only while printing PDF documents, it could be an application-specific issue and you may print the PDF as an image.
Keep us posted for any other assistance.
