Hi @Gaga4r
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for flagging that—when your HP OfficeJet 8022e throws a vague “error in status” message, it’s usually tied to a driver hiccup, a stalled print job, or a glitch in the connection between your PC and printer.
Let’s walk through a few steps to clear it up.
1. Power Reset Everything
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it from the wall and wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
- Restart your PC and try printing again.
2. Clear the Print Queue
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer > Open print queue.
- Cancel any stuck jobs.
- Try printing a fresh document.
3. Restart the Print Spooler Service
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click it, and choose Restart.
If the Error Persists
4. Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Visit the HP OfficeJet 8022e driver page.
- Download the latest Full Software Solution for Windows 11.
- Uninstall the printer from Printers & Scanners, then reinstall using the downloaded software.
5. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool
- In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
- Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
6. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
- Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.
