Kids are so much fun!   Yesterday my granddaughter decided playing the keypad on the front og the HP printer would be fun.  Now, printer prints a document but its reduced in size and only prints on the right hand 2/3'rds  of page.  Tried lots of fixes to no avail.  Printer also promts to use available media (click OK) before printing.  Never did that before.

Thoughts?

Hi @Northlars

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your granddaughter may have accidentally changed some settings on the printer. Here are some steps you can take to reset the print settings and get everything back to normal:

Reset Print Settings:

  • Go to the printer’s menu and look for a “Restore Defaults” or “Factory Reset” option. This will reset the printer settings to their original factory state. Check your printer's user manual for the exact steps.

Check Paper Size and Type Settings:

  • Make sure the correct paper size is selected. On the printer’s display, go to the Settings menu, find Paper Settings, and ensure that the paper size matches what you're using (e.g., A4, Letter, etc.).

Print Settings on Computer:

  • If you’re printing from a computer, check the print settings in the application you’re using:
    • Go to File > Print and look for settings related to scaling, page layout, or paper size. Make sure it's set to 100% or “Actual Size.”

Check for "Fit to Page" Option:

  • In your print settings, make sure the “Fit to Page” or similar option is turned off if you want to maintain the original size of the document.

Paper Tray Settings:

  • Ensure the paper tray is loaded correctly and that the paper guides are snug against the paper without being too tight.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Keeping your firmware up to date can resolve many issues.

Clear Print Queue:

  • If there's a print job stuck in the queue, it might affect future print jobs. Clear the print queue and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The saga continues.  I have rectified all the printer issues resulting from grandaughter messing with keypad, except for one issue.  I can set up the printer to print letter size, but it won't print a #10 envelope correctly.  Or I can set it up to print a #10 envelope correctly but then it won't print letter size correctly.  It will recognize the envelope in the paper tray, but askes for system option to print, then prints wrong. It used to work fine with both computers that use the printer.  Now neither computer will work, so its a printer issue.  I'm sure it's some setting I'm over-looking or some setting that's wrong.  I have downloaded and installed new updated driver for the printer.
