HP Office Jet3830

There was a recently downloaded 'update' to my brand new (literally bought it on Sept 27th) printer/scanner/copier/fax. When i turned it on this morning I notice that there control panel screen was 'missing' both the 'home' and 'back' buttons. AND it was no longer 'connected' via the wireless system to my computer. I ran the HP print & Scan Doctor 5.1 program and the printer DID print.. BUT the control panel is STILL missing both the home nad back buttons..

Has anyone else encountered this issue and HOW do I correct it??

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. )

For me to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

For now please try these steps:

Then check if it gets fixed. If it does not contact HP phone support to get the printer replaced.

Hi David...

Sorrry it took so long for me to get back with you..

Here's the honest scoop.. It seems that every time I get one option on this printer to work another one stops working.. ie i get the scanner to work wirelessly the printer stops working.. OR the printer will work and the scanner stops. The printer/scanner/copier is literally 6 inches away from my tower.. BUT I'm upstairs and the router is in my husband's 'office' in the basement. SO that may be the main issue. SO to 'fix' everything and to stop the frustration we just went and got a USB cable and connected the printer to the tower. TRUE i no onger have the 'wireless' capabilities.. BUT i'm also no longer 'frustrated'. NOW however, there are NO icons on the screen at all, EXCEPT the home, back and 'wireless' symbol being lit up...

As the old saying goes.. "I can't win for losing" LOL

Hi @LisaGLewis,

I reviewed the post. I am really glad the issue has been fixed. I was referring to the control panel of the printer and I thought the control panel icons on the printer's display were missing. The printer's front panel is also called the control panel. Now we have a control panel in Windows as well.

The irony of things! Anyway i am glad that you've got it up and running.

Like the old adage goes " All is well that ends well"  Based on your previous post I was under the impression that the control panel icons are really missing on the printer and hence gave you the steps.

I honestly hope the printer works great and stays healthy for a long time. It has been an absolute privilege to have worked with you and a great experience to share this platform with you. You've displayed profound technical expertise coupled with terrific resilience to get the issue resolved. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

If this helped then to simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!
